We are in Montepulciano, Tuscany, where over fifty years ago, grandfather Lido planted the first Sangiovese vines, giving life to a small family vineyard. For decades this land remained silent, waiting for the right moment to speak again. Today, that moment has arrived.
Aiola Vecchia is an intimate, artisanal project, brought back to life by the vision of the oenologist Fabio Marchi, who has been crafting excellent wines in the Montepulciano area for over twenty years. Here, wine is born first in the vineyard: among old trunks, seasons that mark the work and a manual, respectful and conscious approach.
We do not yet have a winery of our own—and this is a deliberate choice. It allows us to concentrate all our energy on the vineyard, following each vine one by one, letting the land guide decisions. We produce few bottles, but with great care, seeking balance, elegance and authenticity, without chasing fashions or compromises. Each Aiola Vecchia wine is a dialogue between past and future: the deep roots of a historic vineyard met with a contemporary sensibility inspired by precision and elegance. This blog was created to share that journey, harvest after harvest, bottle after bottle.
